CSM Sport & Entertainment today wraps up its Rio 2016 Olympic programme after 22 days of spectacular sporting achievement and carnival atmosphere in Rio, and years of planning and preparation. CSM, a global leader in the business of sport and entertainment, which specialises in major quadrennial events, deployed more than 800 international and local staff across the Games. Since 2012 our teams have planned, created, built and delivered for more than 40 different clients at the Games.
Delivering an unforgettable experience
Across the two weeks, on behalf of its clients, CSM hosted more than 11,000 guests, managed 41,000 tickets, designed, produced and distributed 250,000 pieces of merchandise and organised 30,000 food and beverage experiences. All of these different elements helped CSM’s clients deliver a truly memorable Olympic experience for their guests.
CSM thrives on putting clients at the heart of the world’s greatest experiences and delivered a variety of programmes to meet clients’ different needs.
CSM helped Dow, the world’s leading Science and Technology company, deliver an fully immersive experience which engaged guests with its role in creating a better world for the future. The objective was to communicate Dow leading the sustainability agenda, putting science at the heart of life and making life easier, while embracing the inspiration of the Games through its message of ‘One Dream, Many Journeys’.
CSM also worked with Bradesco, the Official Banking Sponsor of the Games, which wanted to use the Olympics to engage key stakeholders and instil in them a sense of pride in Brazil. This was achieved through a successful Olympic Torch Relay, taking the Olympic message nationwide, as well as the Games’ largest hospitality experience for its guests.
CSM also delivered a range of services for clients running ‘houses’, including the highly popular Holland Heineken House, which received an average of 3,000 guests per day across the 22 days, and PyeongChang House 2018 ahead of the Winter Olympics.
Mascot Management
Another major project for CSM was managing the Rio 2016 and Brazilian Olympic Committee’s mascot operations; recruiting, training and casting the team that ensured Tom, Vinicius and Ginga were on hand for 600 appearances for 30 clients in 10 countries.
Making history with Team GB
CSM supported Team GB in its most successful ever Olympic Games. Ahead of the Games we designed, produced and installed branding for Team GB’s training base.
Attention turns to Asia
Finally, CSM’s team hosted more than 200 guests from Korea and Japan, the future host cities, including members of the organising committee, sponsors and suppliers, as part of the ‘transfer of knowledge’ programme. The objective was to show these key stakeholders first-hand what it looks like when a Games comes to fruition, as well as educating them on lessons that Rio learnt during the planning process.
With the Rio 2016 Olympics now complete, our teams are busy preparing for the Rio 2016 Paralympics in two weeks time, after which the focus turns to PyeongChang and Tokyo where we will be helping deliver two of sport’s showcase events once again.
