This year marks the second annual Royal Bank of Canada V Series event, which is based on the racing format of the Italian Team Pursuit. Teams made up of eight riders compete against the clock on a 1km closed-road circuit in the heart of Canary Wharf in London. This exciting inter-company team cycling challenge provides a fantastic spectacle with exciting racing, a truly unique venue and with friends, family and colleagues offering crowd support.
Those taking part have the opportunity to invite clients to enjoy the hospitality and racing, network with other companies, as well as strengthen relationships within their own teammates made up of colleagues, clients and trade partners. The event is organised and run by leading global mass participation sport engagement agency, Limelight Sports.
Once again competitors will be guided by performance coaches led by Royal Bank of Canada V Series Performance Advisor Shane Sutton OBE, Technical Director at British Cycling. Four months of coaching and strategic advice will be provided to all companies around building a competitive squad, how to train and expert advice leading up to the event day. A mixture of videos, seminars, articles and training tutorials will be used to help teams understand the technical, tactical and physical demands of the Italian Team Pursuit and how to bring all of these elements together to deliver the ultimate team performance.
At the launch of this year’s event at Thomson Reuters headquarters in Canary Wharf, Shane Sutton OBE commented, “An Olympic year is always very exciting for sports followers, but it is particularly exciting for cycling fans due to the great success of British cycling in the UK in recent years. The build-up to the Royal Bank of Canada V Series for the competitors this year will be very similar to what the Olympic stars face. Months of preparation and dedication culminate to just a few minutes of intense pressure requiring concentration and coordinated thinking between team members”.
The race night of this year’s Royal Bank of Canada V Series will take place in Canary Wharf on Thursday 15th September 2016.

About Pure Sports Medicine
Pure Sports Medicine are a unique team of sport and exercise medicine specialists, dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and musculoskeletal problems.
Just like a sports club’s medical team, they work together to reach the best possible outcome for each patient.
In 2001, Andrew Willett an ex professional rugby player from Australia was studying for an MBA and playing rugby for the University of Oxford when he snapped his Achilles tendon. After being driven to A&E, he waited 6 hours to be seen by a registrar. Following diagnosis, the registrar sought the advice of the Orthopaedic Surgeon. ‘Put him in plaster and we will see him in 2 weeks’ was the reply. By now, Andrew had already contacted a trusted Sports Physician in Australia and his recommendation was an operation to improve the chances of full recovery.
Dissatisfied with the publicly provided system, Andrew attempted to seek help from private sources. No one could definitively guide him as to whom he should see or where he should go. The concept of a specialist sports medicine centre was born then and there. Pure Sports Medicine is the result of that inspiration.
