Real Madrid FC and France National Team centre-back Raphaël Varane has appointed CAA Base, a division of ESA member and leading global sports agency CAA Sports, for representation on and off the pitch. Widely considered one of the best centre-backs in the world, Varane has played in more than 400 games, won 20 trophies, and, in 2018, became the fourth player in history to win the Champions League and World Cup in the same year. Varane’s brother Anthony has served as his manager since 2017, and continues in this role.
Varane started his professional career in 2010 at Lens FC at the age of 17-years-old. Just one year after his impressive debut, he was scouted by Zinedine Zidane and signed with Real Madrid. Varane scored his first goal for Real Madrid in his second game, becoming the youngest foreign player in the Club’s history to score in a competitive match. Since, Varane has won three La Liga Championships, four UEFA Champions League trophies, and four FIFA Club World Cups.
Varane made his debut for the France National Team in 2012. Two years later, he was named Captain, the youngest in France National Team history. In 2018, France won the World Cup, in which Varane played every single minute of the tournament.
In 2019, Varane was the subject of RAPHAEL VARANE, DESTIN DE CHAMPION, a documentary for Amazon Prime that traces his exceptional career.
CAA Sports further solidified its leadership position in the global representation of sports talent with its acquisition of Base Soccer Agency in 2019. CAA Base is a full-service football agency, representing and dealing with more than 300 international football players, coaches, and world-leading managers, both on and off the pitch, including Dele Alli, James Maddison, Kyle Walker, Fred, Danny Rose, Davinson Sanchez, Ashley Young, and Carlo Ancelotti, and is also a leading agency in women’s football, representing four players on England’s World Cup squad, including Fran Kirby and Georgia Stanway.
Continuing its longstanding partnership with Polaris Sports, Gestifute’s commercial arm, CAA Sports jointly represents the marketing rights for many world class football players and coaches, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho, James Rodriguez, Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, and Renato Sanches. CAA Sports also represents such global sports talent as Nico Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo, Shohei Ohtani, Dwyane Wade, and Zion Williamson.
