Surrey FA is delighted to announce its partnership with Specsavers, the UK’s largest optical retailer, has been extended for a further three years to the 2023/24 season.
As part of this new agreement, Specsavers will continue to receive naming rights to the Surrey Senior Cup, branding the 150-year-old competition as the ‘Specsavers Surrey Senior Cup’ which attracts over 30 teams from across the county to compete for the prestigious title.
The deal will also see Specsavers access additional rights across the grassroots game in Surrey, to support local communities as part of the retailer’s vision to change lives through better sight and hearing.
The Surrey FA/Specsavers partnership was first agreed in November 2016, and has been a hugely positive and beneficial relationship for both parties. This renewed sponsorship agreement ensures that football in Surrey will continue to benefit.
Surrey FA Chief Executive, Sally Lockyer says:
“Surrey FA is delighted to extend our partnership with Specsavers. Together we can develop our unique relationship, underpinned by our shared community objectives. The value of this partnership allows so much of our crucial work to take place, and we are grateful to Specsavers for their ongoing support and commitment to community football, as we look to recover from the impact of COVID on people’s physical and mental wellbeing.”
Specsavers Regional Chair, James Sawyer adds:
“All Specsavers colleagues across the Surrey region are passionate about giving something back to our local communities and our sponsorship of the Surrey FA is an initiative close to everyone’s hearts.
It celebrates a shared love of the game but more importantly, our financial support helps the Surrey FA efforts to promote healthy living across the region. Monies donated makes football accessible to everyone and it’s a delight to play our small part in making a difference.
On behalf of all the stores, we want to wish all Senior Cup players a successful season. We will be cheering you all from the sidelines!”
This announcement comes at a crucial time. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the game greatly and we have only recently been able to celebrate the return of grassroots football at community level. Through this partnership, we aim to provide local clubs with the resources to develop and make football accessible for all.
