The International Wine & Spirit Competition Ltd celebrated the world of whisky on Thursday 21 October
The 2021 IWSC Awards Ceremony took place at The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh
The whisky industry came together last night to celebrate their love of all things distilled at The 2021 IWSC Awards Ceremony which took place in The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh. The evening celebrated the world of whisky with guests treated to a tasting of the top IWSC award-winning whiskies from around the world, followed by a celebratory evening’s awards ceremony.
The 2021 IWSC Awards Ceremony provided a rare chance for attendees to taste more than 250 of the top awarded Gold and Gold Outstanding whisky medal winners.
Christelle Guibert CEO – The IWSC commented,
“Tonight was all about those in our wonderful world of whisky, reuniting for the first time since before the coronavirus pandemic. We wanted to honour all the hard work done in that time to ensure our trade keeps production at the highest level and to celebrate as an industry together.”
The awards ceremony was hosted by Joel Harrison and Becky Paskin, and the event was attended by the IWSC’s 2021 President, Michael Urquhart: the former managing director of family-owned Scotch whisky and premium spirits specialist Gordon & MacPhail.
Sponsorship consultancy agency Reg&Co partnered with The IWSC and brought in new sponsors, Mackmyra, International Beverages and Double Dutch for the exclusive event.

With over 50 years of experience, the IWSC, or Club Oenologique as it was called back in 1969, was the first official wine and spirit competition.
Over the years it has become both the model and the paradigm wine and spirit judging, inspiring companies, organisations, industries and individuals alike.
The IWSC is the go-to platform for having your wines or spirits tasted and reviewed by leading decision-makers from both the off and on-trades, as well as by key influencers.
Whether you’re looking for new distribution channels, local or global exposure, product benchmarking, greater brand awareness or simply expert feedback, IWSC is there for you.
The sponsors
The award-winning Double Dutch create tonics and mixers that focus on flavour pairing, developing unique recipes that present unexpected and creative combinations. Each tonic is made with 100% natural ingredients using no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Their mixers accompanied the pre-dinner drinks.
International Beverages Holdings Limited is one of the industry’s most dynamic global drinks businesses, specialising in developing distinctive, premium local brands for global growth. Two of their brands, Old Pulteney 15yo and Speyburn 10yo featured as part of their sponsorship of the pre and post dinner drinks at the event.
Mackmyra is the pioneer and innovator who started the Swedish whisky expeditions. The whisky is created with Swedish ingredients, with no additives, and by a climate friendly distillation technique and they will sponsor one of the courses at the dinner.
