The North Face believe exploration has the power to shape lives, connect communities and create meaningful change. Yet for many communities and individuals, the path to exploration can be a challenging one. We know this needs to change.
That’s why this pride month, we’re celebrating all who feel the joy of the outdoors with a series of actions aimed to support the LGBTQ+ community who love to explore.
Our new pride collection is designed with purpose in mind. The new rainbow inspired collection will directly support LGBTQ+ communities with 1 euro from every piece sold going to groups who aim to further representation in the outdoors.
We also believe in the power of visibility, so we will be using our platforms to champion underrepresented voices, offering groups and individuals space to empower others to speak up and help us all be the change we want.
These commitments will run beyond the month of June, increasing LGBTQ+ representation across The North Face brand. From athletes to explorers, photographers to designers and everyone in between, we are committed to creating real change.
One of the communities to receive financial support from the launch of the new pride collection is the Berlin based Queer Climb. Founded in 2016, the project offers climbing courses, workshops, and community activities. It’s a project that founder, Finn Kargl believes can have a long-lasting impact in the outdoors.
“Queerclimb is a project for queer and female climbers to connect, learn and train in a welcoming and safer environment. I founded Queerclimb, because there was a need for a project that empowers queer folks and women in outdoor sports. Since then, we offer climbing courses, workshops, talks and networking events. It’s always fun to come together with like-minded people to learn new climbing skills.”
In addition to Queer Climb, The North Face will also be donating to Italian sport association GAYSC and The Mark Scott Leadership For Life Award, partnered with The Outward Bound Trust in the UK. Both with the aim of creating more opportunities for people to participate in and get involved with the outdoors over the next year and beyond.
The North Face stands proudly with the LGBTQ+ community and the amazing work so many continue to do to bring change to the outdoors. To learn more about each of the groups we’re partnering with, visit the links below:
