Further accelerating its international growth strategy, Evolution Media Capital (EMC) today announced the appointment of veteran sports executive James Elliott to Head of Sports Media, EMEA.
EMC, the merchant bank of leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA), provides a broad range of traditional investment banking and strategic advisory services to organisations across the global sports and media industries and has advised on more than $60 billion in transactions for its clients since its inception in 2008. In his new post, Elliott will work closely with EMC Partner and Head of Sports Media Alan Gold to lead EMC’s media advisory work throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Gold said:
“The global market for sports rights is experiencing tremendous growth as new players enter the space, driving innovation and opportunity. James is a highly accomplished and seasoned media executive, whose vast experience and deep relationships will be instrumental as we look to expand our capabilities and reach throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.”
With nearly two decades of experience across all sectors of the sports industry, including broadcast, distribution, digital, live events, and sponsorship, Elliott comes to EMC from Room9 Group, a commercial sports consultancy he founded in 2017 that advised networks, sports organisations and brands across the globe, including DAZN, Twitch, Viacom, Bellator and Top Rank on live event, commercial, and media distribution strategy. Previously, he held leadership positions for major international agencies, rights holders, and brands, including Pitch International, the English Football Association, and, most notably, the UFC, where he was Vice-President and General Manager for EMEA.
Elliot said:
“I am delighted to have been asked to spearhead the operation in EMEA. The track record and reputation of EMC is second to none and I look forward to working with Alan and the rest of the team, as we build out the business across the region.”
“The media landscape is ever-changing and, now more than ever, it is vital to develop international media strategies to enable our clients to thrive. The roll-out of EMC’s best-in-class service in EMEA will position the business perfectly to drive continued growth for both EMC, and, most importantly, our clients.”
