Reg&Co are working alongside the team at VIY (Volunteer It Yourself) to identify ways to grow their national programme through additional funding from Corporate partners.
VIY combines DIY and volunteering by challenging young people aged 14-24 who are unemployed, NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) or at risk of becoming NEET to help refurbish and improve youth clubs, grassroots sports clubs, community buildings, and facilities whilst learning earning an Entry Level City & Guilds qualification and employability skills on the job. To date, VIY have completed 500+ projects and 10,000+ young people have participated and benefitted.
At the heart of the VIY model, young people are mentored by, and work alongside, professional tradespeople who share their skills. To date, more than 900 tradespeople have volunteered as VIY mentors, providing vital support to young people coming through the programme.
The improvements to sports clubs and communities has a knock-on and long-lasting legacy to the individuals who use the facilities and those who take part in the facility refurbishment/improvement projects. At Reg&Co we believe the opportunity to tell these fantastic and inspiring stories is what makes VIY such a valuable opportunity for brands who are keen to promote skills, employability, community, legacy, and education.
Tim Reading, Founder of VIY said:
“VIY is very much about bringing different cross-sector partners together who can all contribute something unique, and often private sector companies and sponsors can add brand appeal and mass-awareness to a community programme or social action initiative to help engage, excite and mobilise audiences in a way that sometimes the public or third sector can’t.”
“I met great lads and lasses volunteering on all four projects. Their
enthusiasm was a brilliant reflection of what the VIY scheme is all about. They
all just wanted to get on with it.” – Guy Martin
“Once you learn a trade, you’re okay. You’ll always be able to make a
living.” Kayleigh Morris – a VIY volunteer
If you believe your organisation has something positive to give and that a brand partnership with VIY would be a mutually beneficial project, then please contact Karen or Stuart at Reg&Co sponsorship agency.
