The European Tour today announced a multi-year, exclusive daily fantasy partnership with PlayON, the leading regulated operator in the daily fantasy sports industry.
Starting this week, the “Official Daily Fantasy Game of the European Tour” will enable fans to compete against each other in one-on-one games and multiplayer games each day.
Fans can pick teams of seven players for each round of play in European Tour tournaments, offering a more entertaining and immersive fantasy gaming experience. Each team’s performance is based on the performance of those seven players that day, with team totals then ranked to determine the winners. This format allows participants to play whenever they like, with no season-long commitment.
Rufus Hack, The European Tour’s Head of Media, Digital and Strategy, said: “We are committed to enhancing the fan experience on The European Tour and are very pleased to be partnering with PlayON to offer our fans a compelling daily fantasy challenge, aimed at increasing their engagement and enjoyment of our tournaments.
“Daily Fantasy games are becoming increasingly popular in sport, offering a more immersive gaming experience for fans, and we believe this format will prove to be a big hit with our fans over the coming weeks and months. A key factor in our decision to partner with PlayON was their strong commitment to operating responsibly and only operating in regulated markets. We look forward to working together to make the daily fantasy game a success.”
Killian Jones, Founder and CEO of PlayON, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the European Tour to deliver our daily fantasy experience to golf fans around the world. The addition of golf games to our existing daily fantasy football, basketball and cricket games will give PlayON customers a new and exciting way to play each day.
“Daily Fantasy European Tour Games will bring added entertainment to watching live golf and we look forward to working closely with the European Tour to deliver a great daily fantasy experience to golf fans over the coming years.”
The Official Daily Fantasy Game of the European Tour is now available at: www.europeantour.com/dailyfantasy and www.playon.co/europeantour.
In accordance with the European Tour’s Integrity Programme, European Tour members and related personnel, caddies and European Tour staff may not participate in the Official Daily Fantasy Game of the European Tour.
