A race like no other, where for 45 days over 100,000 participants from all corners of the globe covered 379M steps in an effort to improve mental and physical wellbeing during an incredibly challenging time.
Unified by their Club, and enthusiasm for a brighter tomorrow, fans braved aches, pains, weather and fatigue as they raced their virtual way around the world starting and finishing in Manchester; all thanks to long-time partner, Nexen Tire.
The Nexen Road To Man City (NRTM) – comprising a 55-day registration campaign and 45-day race campaign – connected a global community of like-minded people all looking for the inspiration and support needed to get up, get active and to improve the sedentary lifestyle that had become all too commonplace during the COVID pandemic.
In recognition of the outstanding efforts made by so many, Manchester City and Nexen provided over 1000 prizes to help motivate and inspire fans to achieve their goals.
By logging their steps via the customised NRTM app, fans traversed our custom-built virtual racecourse, unlocking strategic locations, quizzes, surveys and challenges as they went. The app also included a global leader-board allowing racers to compete and interact with fellow participants, irrespective of geographical location.
After completing 379M steps and burning 500,000+ kilos from the scale, 88% of participants saw a definite change in overall body health, 88% declared the race added value to their life and 84% felt more positively towards our partner Nexen Tire, making this one of our most successful partner campaigns ever.
