In Europe, FedEx is powered by the commitment of its employees (team members). Their dedication is critical in delivering business objectives and FedEx puts its team members at the heart of everything it does, including its sponsorships.
FedEx entered its first cycle as an official sponsor of UEFA Champions League (UCL) at the start of the 2021/22 season. Throughout this sponsorship, FedEx has continued to use core sponsorship rights to drive employee engagement, with the aim of inspiring its team members to continue to become bigger advocates of FedEx.
During the 2022/23 season, FedEx delivered a pan-European Referee Mascot programme, offering children in the immediate family of team members the opportunity to walk out with the match officials onto the pitch in 12 different countries.
Ticket programmes were also offered during the tournament and the UCL final to allow team members to experience the excitement of Europe’s elite club football competition. Ticket competitions encouraged peer-to-peer performance recognition; with winners nominating a colleague to attend the match with them.
Throughout the season FedEx provided access to the prestigious UCL trophy to inspire and engage team members, with one lucky employee delivering the trophy to the UCL final in Istanbul.
The commitment to team member engagement continues to deliver results for FedEx. Throughout the 2022/23 season, over 13,500 team member engagements were received for the UCL programmes. Team member satisfaction showed 96% Strongly Agreed/Agreed that their UCL experience made them proud to work for FedEx, an uplift of 5% YoY.
