PwC Ireland’s success depends on our ability to recruit and retain the best talent, with graduates being the single most important source of new talent. Each year, PwC hires over 300 graduates.
Maintaining awareness and ‘magnetism’ amongst young adults is critical to our success. And sponsorship gives us the opportunity to reach and connect with this important audience at an early stage in their employment journey.
One of the most popular sports amongst this key audience is rugby. PwC has had a long-standing involvement with underage rugby for over 18 years. But in 2022, we intensified our involvement to ‘own underage rugby in Ireland’. Our sponsorship expanded to include all the main national, male and female teams. If it involved underage rugby, it involved PwC.
The sponsorship was supported with heavy media investment across TV, radio, social and digital. And the support didn’t stop when the matches did. PwC designed and hosted Development Days where players and colleagues could share and learn new skills to help them succeed on the pitch and in life.
Results have been exceptional. Almost one-in-ten people claimed the sponsorship made them feel more positive about PwC, increasing to almost one-in-five amongst 18 – 24 year old’s. PwC’s ‘ideal ranking’ was maintained or increased amongst students in five of the seven key areas of study. In 2023, despite intense competition for graduates, PwC surpassed 2022 training programme applications by 47%.
