Across all sports, DP World has a central platform: making sport possible. From source to course, from the grassroots to the elite, DP World aims to use its logistics expertise to help make sport possible for all. This is exemplified through the newly launched Beyond Boundaries Initiative, in cricket, ahead of the ICC Men’s 50 Over Cricket World Cup.
Cricket is disrupting the sports landscape. With the rise of franchise leagues and the creation of the WPL, cricket is growing like never before. But for many it’s still inaccessible, with cost and access barriers to entry.
DP World has sought to combat this through the Beyond Boundaries Initiative, using the launchpad of the Cricket World Cup. Over five years, fifty repurposed shipping containers will be distributed to grassroots cricket clubs worldwide, each equipped with 250 cricket kits containing essentials: bats, helmets, gloves, and pads. They’re also functional, complete with scoreboards plus sun protection: allowing communities to come together.
DP World Global Ambassador, Sachin Tendulkar unveiled the first container and the start of the initiative at the National Sports Club of India last month with the cricket kits donated to local academies including the Shivaji Park Gymkhana Academy.
Fans have been able to see the initiative in action on the Cricket World Cup tournament broadcast. For every 100 runs scored by a team, DP World has pledged 10 kits to grassroots clubs, distributed via container.
Over 1,770 kits have been pledged to date. DP World is only just getting started.
