the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society is delighted to announce the continuation of its partnership with the AI research and development company Anthropic, as the Official Education Partner of the Fringe for 2025. Anthropic is the team behind Claude.
Anthropic previously partnered with the Fringe Society in 2024, where they delivered a series of workshops helping artists, media professionals and academics learn how Claude can aid the creative process; and heard feedback on AI from the Fringe community.
Anthropic will again deliver workshops for Fringe artists designed to help them explore the potential of AI in their preparations for Fringe 2025, including for tasks such as brainstorming, planning, storyboarding, and more. These sessions will be delivered online via Fringe Connect where Anthropic’s education and creative teams will be on hand to answer questions and explain how to utilise Claude.

The workshops will conclude with a virtual Q&A offering artists the chance to ask the Anthropic team about AI and inviting an honest conversation about the opportunities and challenges of technological transformation for creatives.
Tony Lankester, Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, said: “AI is a highly debated topic in society, particularly in the creative sector – and rightly so. Thankfully, highly debated topics are the bread and butter of the Fringe, and I can’t think of a better place for this debate to continue and develop.
“We’ve been in ongoing discussions with the Anthropic team over the past year, and we’ve been really impressed with their commitment to collaboratively engage with the creative community, and explore how AI can help and not detract from the creative process.”
Everett Katigbak, brand creative director at Anthropic, said: “As a musician and documentary filmmaker, I loved meeting like-minded creatives with a curiosity about technology during our Fringe workshops last year.
“At Anthropic, we believe AI should amplify creative vision, and support the irreplaceable human spark that drives artistic expression. That’s why we’re approaching things differently – with a commitment to data privacy for our users, and a focus on listening and learning.
“Claude is designed to remove technical barriers and expand possibilities, while keeping artists firmly at the center of the creative process. We’re honored to support the Fringe again in 2025, and to convene workshops and conversations that help artists discover new tools as they bring their shows to Edinburgh.”

About the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society: The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society is the charity that underpins the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe. It was established in 1958 by a group of artists to provide central services for the festival and ensure that it stays true to its founding purpose of inclusion and welcome to all. We exist to support and encourage everyone who wants to participate in the Fringe; to provide information and assistance to audiences; and to celebrate the Fringe and what it stands for all over the world.
Based on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the Society has a small team of staff who work year-round to assist all the artists and audiences who make the festival one of the best loved performing arts events on the planet. In 2022, as part of the Fringe’s 75th anniversary, the Fringe Society launched a new collaborative vision and set of values, and made a series of commitments to become more inclusive, fair and sustainable. The vision is “to give anyone a stage and everyone a seat”.
Our three values will guide the behaviours and decisions of everyone involved with the Fringe: celebrate performing arts, be open to all and look out for each other. The Society will live by them, champion them and uphold them where necessary.
