Rimi Riga Marathon is one of the fastest-growing marathons in Northern Europe and the largest and most international running event in the Baltic, with more than 37 500 participants from 82 countries, and has been awarded to prestigious World Athletics Gold Label.
Running is one of the most environmentally friendly sports and leaves the smallest environmental footprint. To create a sense of belonging as we strive for a cleaner planet, Neste Latvija together with Rimi Riga Marathon have created special campaign for every sports enthusiast – Run for Future.
The aim of the race was not just to run 5 km or 10 km anywhere in the world. It also aimed to draw the attention of the public and encourage everyone to take steps towards creating a cleaner planet by introducing green habits: turning off the tap when soaping our hands or washing the dishes, using multi-use dishes and travel mugs, taking our own shopping bags to shops, recycling, picking litter during our runs, traveling by foot or bike more often, and more. During the campaign, elite runners and ambassadors shared ideas and their own habits which will help save the planet, leaving it cleaner for the next generations.
The competition, which took place from April 5 and 11 at the Rimi Riga Marathon Running Virtual Racing Club, was free and could be attended by any running enthusiast. Overall, there were around 2500 participants from 42 countries. The campaign used 6 types of creative visuals and reached 454 554 unique users.
