The One Million Run & Vaudoise Insurances

Vaudoise is amongst the ten main insurance companies in Switzerland and plays an important role in the Swiss sports scene. As a long-time Sponsor of the athletics meeting Weltklasse Zurich, Vaudoise was amongst the first to be informed that the meeting would not take place this year. At the same time, Weltklasse Zurich presented an alternative project to which Vaudoise immediately adhered and took part as Presenting Sponsor along with two other well-known Swiss brands. The concept was simple: rally the Swiss population to run, walk, hike, 1 million kilometers in 48hours, each individually and yet together thanks to digitalization. Entry was free, but each participant could donate for the Swiss young sports talents. Part of the Sponsoring fee was calculated in the donation, and a silent donor offered to double the amount should Switzerland make it to the objective.

Due to Covid, the main activation was Social Media with videos developed for the project, support from influencers, including Stan Wawrinka. Weltklasse Zurich developed an app which was used by all runners to indicate their distance and time with live updates, a special web-tv show was put in place, filters for social media, personalized post-videos for all participants, and of course the sponsors were integrated on various levels in all activations.

Not only did this project allow Vaudoise to reconnect with and reactivate the sports community, motivate and involve their employees, but Vaudoise could also show its continuous support to Swiss sports, more particularly in the empty first semester of 2020.
