- Deal is an extension of the car brand’s existing relationship with Rugby Football League
- Underlines Dacia’s commitment to all levels of the game
Dacia has extended its partnership with Rugby Football League to become principal supporting partner of England Wheelchair Rugby League. The new agreement sees the car brand appearing on the team shirts for the 2017 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup which is currently underway in France.
England are back in action today (Wednesday 26th July) when they take on Australia in the semi-final. Having beaten them in the group stages, England will be looking to secure their place in the final.
Commenting on the new partnership, Ed Preston, Dacia communications manager, said: “In only our second year of supporting Rugby League, we’re very proud to be involved with all levels and formats of the game. There’s a great community and open-to-all spirit in the game which we really identify with and the wheelchair version of the game really embodies this. It’s accessible to all, with mixed gender teams representing their country at the highest level.”
Martyn Gill, England’s joint head coach, added: “The Wheelchair World Cup is a relatively new competition – this only being the third time it’s been contested – but we have a good track record so are looking forward to the challenge ahead in France. It’s great to have Dacia, an established Rugby League partner, come on board to support the team for this tournament, reiterating their commitment to game.”
As well as its support of the England Wheelchair Rugby League team, Dacia are also the official car partner of the RFL, which includes title sponsorship of the Dacia World Club Series and Dacia Magic Weekend. Through its partnership this season, Dacia has been supporting all levels of the game, by providing grassroots clubs with training sessions with professional coaches and players from the Betfred Super League as part of the Dacia #FlairPlay Awards.

Dacia
Dacia’s robust and no-nonsense approach makes the association with the Rugby Football League the perfect fit. In addition to the Title Partner of the Dacia World Club Series, and Dacia Magic Weekend, the brand is the Official Car Partner of the Betfred Super League and the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.
Dacia has a long history associated with Renault, the French brand first working with Dacia plants in Romania in the 1960s, before acquiring them fully in 1999. The brand concept is simple: to shake up preconceived ideas. Dacia produces spacious, robust, high-quality vehicles of original design that are affordable for everybody.
Dacia vehicles offer exceptional value for money. Reliable and resistant, they embody the best of Renault expertise. Relaunched by parent company Groupe Renault in 2004, the Dacia range has been expanding constantly and buyers have a wide array of vehicles to choose from, ranging from Dacia Duster, a sporty all-terrain vehicle, to light commercial vehicles or family vehicles such as the Dacia Sandero and Dacia Logan MCV. The concept continues to enjoy great success with over 4 million Dacias sold in Europe since the brand’s revival in 2004.
Dacia launched in the UK in January 2013 and enjoyed the most successful start ever for a new car brand in the UK. Dacia was rated 4th best car manufacturer for ownership satisfaction in the 2016 Which? Car Guide – out of 34 rivals including many luxury brands. The Dacia Sandero has been awarded the title of “Best Small Car under £12,000” by What Car? for five consecutive years (2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013). The Dacia Duster was named TopGear magazine’s “Bargain of the Year 2012” at launch. Over 100,000 Dacia vehicles have been sold in the UK to date.
