George Ford, Joe Launchbury and Jonathan Joseph sign with Samsung and are set to feature in the brand’s first multi-platform rugby campaign
Samsung Electronics UK, Official Partner of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), today revealed it has signed England Rugby stars George Ford, Joe Launchbury and Jonathan Joseph as brand ambassadors.
Samsung was announced as the Official Consumer Electronics & Smartphone Partner as well as Official Home Technology Partner to the RFU and England Rugby Team at the end of 2014.
The three players, who are currently training at Pennyhill Park ahead of this weekend’s QBE International against France at Twickenham Stadium, will play a key role in raising awareness of Samsung’s commitment to enhancing fans’ enjoyment of sport through technology. All three players will also feature in Samsung’s first multi-platform brand led rugby campaign, the Samsung School of Rugby, set to launch at the beginning of September. Further details will be released shortly across Samsung’s dedicated sport social media channels www.facebook.com/SamsungSport and Twitter @SamsungSport.
Samsung also announced that ahead of an exciting few months for England Rugby, they will offer all RFU affiliated clubs a unique purchase proposition to upgrade their club houses with the latest in digital display screens. The offer, which launches later this month, will run through to the end of 2015. Further information will be communicated directly to rugby clubs in the coming weeks by the RFU.
George Ford, England Rugby Fly Half said: “Technology is becoming even more important for sport – not just for us as players but for the fans as well. It can get them closer to the action as well as giving them the chance to interact with the game in new ways, which is not only exciting for them but for us as players too.
“Samsung’s commitment to enhancing people’s experience of rugby is clear and I’m already a big fan of their products. It’s great to be on board as an ambassador and I’m looking forward to seeing them introduce even more ways of how they will not only engage existing rugby fans but introduce new people to what I think is the best sport in the world!”
Russell Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said: “At Samsung we take pride in bringing sports fans closer to their passions and creating unforgettable experiences through our technology. We are delighted to be working with three outstanding players as we head into an incredibly exciting few months for England Rugby and rugby fans everywhere.”
