A Responsible Choice from Day One

Neste’s global mission is to leave a healthies planet for our children and invite the public to make environmentally friendly decisions to care for our planet together. Neste is certain that every step towards a greener future is important – every green idea inspires the next one.

For more than 80 years, every Finnish new-born has received a “baby box” of things they will need for the first year of life. To mark 30 years of operations in Latvia, Finnish company’s branch in Latvia was inspired by this long-lasting tradition and wanted to do something similar for the future of Latvian children. The initiative supported new parents during the financially and generally difficult pandemic. It also highlighted the everyday environmentally friendly choices which save the only planet we have.

Neste Latvija and Riga Maternity Hospital joined their forces in the campaign “A Responsible Choice from Day One”. The idea was to surprise 100 new-borns and their parents with boxes of much needed baby essentials, but also inviting the new parents to consider raising their children with respect to the environment. 

The enclosed clothes and toiletries were environmentally friendly, helping babies live in a more natural environment from day one. The box is a symbolic gift which simultaneously highlights how important it is to consider the future today, act responsibly, and protect the environment. 

The communication strategy involved multi-faceted communications solutions to reach our target audience: inviting primarily new parents, then the wider public, to take environmental sustainability into account.
