ESB Science Blast, delivered by the RDS is key sponsorship for ESB that links directly to our business objectives, supporting our goal of STEAM education and learning for young people, and as a driver of trust and affiliation among a range of stakeholders. The primary audiences are children, parents, teachers, but broader Irish public is also important. ESB Science Blast empowers primary school children to investigate the science behind a simple question that interest them, then present their findings at a showcase event. With events off and schools closed again due to Covid 19, we needed a new way to engage our key audiences and drive brand equity. The TV partnership and multi-channel approach offered by RTE provided reach we couldn’t have achieved otherwise and delivered significant ROI. Working with iconic duo Zig and Zag allowed us to reach a much broader audience than would normally engage with an education sponsorship. It also enabled us to deliver truly multi-generational content; appealing to adults who loved Zig and Zag since their childhood, as well as their newer younger fans – the very kids that take part in ESB Science Blast
Zig and Zag’s participation helped people to understand the process and value of ESB Science Blast, without putting pressure on teachers at a v stressful time.
