Energia Get Ireland Growing

Overview:

At Energia, we power thousands of Irish homes and businesses, and we are working towards creating a sustainable future with our Positive Energy renewable developments, across wind, hydrogen, solar and bio energy, allowing us to provide 100% green electricity to our lovely customers.

We are also the power behind some of Ireland’s most important purpose-led initiatives including our long-term partnership with Grow it Yourself (GIY) to Get Ireland Growing.

Founded in Ireland in 2008, GIY’s goal is for people to live more sustainably by growing some of their own food.

Approach:

During covid restrictions, we changed our approach and focused on home-growing.  While the campaign was successful in 2020/2021, when restrictions lifted we were guided by insights to innovate and re-engage with Irish community groups.

Our objective was to inspire community groups across Ireland to either kickstart, reboot or re-invigorate their food growing projects by transforming new growing spaces in their community from unused spaces to give them life, or by re-engaging with existing garden spaces to reinvigorate and recruit.

Results:

In 2022, a record 33,768 people got growing from families to sports clubs, gardens to sheds!  With over 800 communities getting involved and 300 community growing starter kits given out across Ireland, we inspired through influencers, visited a number of communities and rewarded our best growers.  We also delivered the best results in 6 years!

Energia successfully continue our mission to Get Ireland Growing.
