The Barclays Women’s Super League

In 2019, Barclays made the biggest investment in women’s sport in the UK by a brand, ever. Becoming title partners of the Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) in the process.

Three years later we renewed that commitment, doubling our investment. We did the same in 2024, extending the partnership until 2028.

It is through this investment, and a shared vision with the BWSL and clubs, that the league has gone on to become the most prominent domestic league in women’s football globally.

But this hasn’t been achieved this just through financial backing or having the Barclays brand name in the league’s title. It’s been achieved through a collaborative partnership which has focused on creating opportunities and championing heroes across women and girls’ football.

So when it was decided that each club had at least one women’s game at their main stadium, we saw record attendances, with the 2023/24 season being the highest attended Barclays Women’s Super League of all time.

And when we made the 2024 Biggest Ever Football Session the, well, biggest ever with 465,000 girls playing football on a single day in March, we made sure there were BWSL stars at the sessions to inspire the next generation.

Our new deal with the BWSL will take Barclays’ partnership with the elite women’s game in the UK to nearly a decade. It’s record breaking, game changing and will continue to create a more equitable sport, and society, for years to come.
