A global sports executive with over 25 years’ experience both agency and brand side. Last year James finished a highly successful 16-year career at Coca-Cola, the last 12 of which involved leading the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, building and transforming teams in London, Rio and Tokyo.
In Japan, James delivered Coca-Cola’s most successful Games on record, over-delivering on commercial returns of US$375m NSR, consumer engagement average of +28% on key metrics and ESG impact all integrated into one simple, transformational plan.
Over his time he has delivered some of the most innovative, creative and engaging campaigns in many countries. Risto is a passionate voice for sponsorship and events. He was the Chairman of the Board of the Finnish Sponsorship & Events Association (spot.fi) for a long time. He is CEO and partner in sponsorship agency Red Carpet Brand Alliances Oy (rcba.fi), working with both brands and rights holders in the sports, events, culture and movie sectors.
Risto works to reinforce the role of sponsorship in an ever-changing media landscape. He is also passionate about strengthening cooperation between European countries within the sponsorship industry.
