Future Leaders Board to work alongside established leadership team in order to bring fresh direction and insight to leading professional membership association.
ESA today announced the formation of a strategic junior board that will work alongside the main board in order to provide insight, and deliver strategic direction, from a different perspective.
The Future Leaders Board (FLB) has been created so that ESA can be made more aware of, and rapidly act upon, new trends and viewpoints that are brought to the organisations attention via a younger board. It is comprised of 12 elected representatives, all aged under 27 and who currently hold positions within sponsorship agencies, rights holders or brands. Co-chairing this new leadership committee are Katie Cavanagh and Ashley Guymer, from the British Fashion Council and JMI respectively who, along with the other FLB members, will work with the main ESA board in order to add new areas of value to the membership.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for ESA now that we’ve appointed some amazing talent to the junior board”, commented Karen Earl, ESA Chairman. “Our effectiveness over the past few years has been as a direct result of the work our senior leadership team has carried out but, as an organisation, we recognise and accept that the only way to continue to add value to our members is to continually strive to deliver on new objectives.”
“The FLB, with a differing perspective to that of the main board, allows us to continue to push the boundaries and bring in new areas of expertise that fully complement the senior leadership that we already have in place. It’s the meeting of these two mindsets that I’m convinced will ignite some amazing strategic output over the coming years”.
Commenting on her appointment, Katie Cavanagh, FLB co-chair and sponsorship coordinator at British Fashion Council, said “I’m immensely proud to be a part of the ESA future vision that the FLB represents. Acknowledging the need for differing perspectives when it comes to their senior leadership team is a bold and committed move by the organisation, and one that I know will allow ESA to build on their already great work and deliver new streams of value to their members”
Ashley Guymer, FLB co-chair and manager of partnership development at JMI, echoed Katie’s sentiments: “We have an amazing opportunity here to do things differently, and to be radical whilst at the same time adhering to the established ESA principles of encouraging more engaging marketing, and raising standards across all areas of our industry. The opportunities are many, and I can’t wait to start working with the rest of the ESA board on some exciting new initiatives that we have planned.”
The ESA FLB will work independently, but alongside, the ESA board, and receive help and guidance from some of the senior directors involved in the running of the organisation. FLB activity will feed into the main strategic ESA activities, and both leadership teams will report into ESA Chairman, Karen Earl. A full list of FLB members can be found on the ESA website here.
