FoodFM, the unique new global radio station all about food, launched with pilot content just before Christmas, already has some exciting signings to announce.
First out of the traps is prestigious global drinks awards IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) who are to partner The Drinking Hour with David Kermode, the hugely respected writer, broadcaster and international wine judge with two decades of experience in print, online, TV and radio and a passion for the drink’s world.
“We are very excited to be collaborating with FoodFM. Food and wine are the perfect combination, so we jumped at this opportunity to partner and develop a drink slot with David who will bring wine and spirit to life with stories and recommendations from across the world.” Christelle Guibert CEO IWSC.
Next is a 12-part series about artisan cheese sponsored by award-winning cracker brand Peter’s Yard, A Slice of Cheese, to be presented by heroine of the British cheese world, food writer Jenny Linford. It was Jenny’s article on the plight of the UK’s artisan cheesemakers during the pandemic that went viral and led to thousands of people ordering cheese online to support the cheesemakers to help them survive.
‘We are delighted to be sponsoring A Slice of Cheese to help shine a light on the artisan cheese industry. As a producer that values quality ingredients and slow, craft processes, it’s a pleasure to share our passion with a wider audience.’ Wendy Wilson-Bett, Co-Founder of Peter’s Yard.
With many more announcements in the pipeline, co-founders Caroline Kenyon and Karen Morris have hardly drawn breath since the start of the year.
Having the strapline Changing the World Through Food, FoodFM is the home of audio storytelling, telling powerful, personal, political and uplifting stories about food from all around the world.
“We are absolutely delighted with how much interest there is in FoodFM,” they say. “The station will be a combination of our own generated content, and then also partnerships with brands and organisations across the world.”
“Food is at the centre of all our lives, whether rich or poor, and there are so many vital stories to be told. The pandemic has highlighted that ever more dramatically and the potential is without limit.”
