Jacksonville Jaguars, the only NFL team committed to the UK, have signed a one-year partnership with ‘United Dragons’ to deliver their popular grassroots programmes, JagTag and Junior ROAR Dance Academy to over 2,000 London children.
United Dragons, one of London’s leading experts in engaging young people through physical grassroots activity, are thrilled to team up with the Jacksonville Jaguars and will be running JagTag and Junior ROAR dance sessions across London.
Director and Founder of United Dragons, Daryl Moore, is excited at the prospect of introducing the non-contact, simplified version of American football to their activities as well as rolling out the Junior ROAR Dance Academy programme to local young girls and boys.
He said: “On top of our traditional activities, we are really looking forward to introducing new children to the growing sport of American football, with the added bonus of ensuring that our next generation enjoy the health benefits of participating in our new programme offerings.
Jacksonville Jaguars Senior Vice President, International Development, Hussain Naqi, hopes the new partnership will encourage more kids to get involved in the sport.
He said: “JagTag is one of the most exciting initiatives we run in the UK and the kids love it. We’re really excited to join forces with United Dragons who have the ability to push our UK grassroots programmes to the next level and get thousands of more kids interested and active.
“It’s proven so popular in the UK with both boys and girls which we’re delighted about. JagTag is suitable for children of all abilities and it’s a fantastic way to learn about the basics of the American football”
JagTag is already delivered in over 350 different schools and over 85,000 children across Britain are involved in the grassroots initiative on a weekly basis.
Children are taught basic techniques of throwing, catching, evading and defending, before gradually upskilling as they get more experience by eventually learning how to create their own in-game tactics.
Participation in the Junior ROAR Dance Academy programme is a chance for children to experience choreography set by Jaguars’ professional cheerleading group ‘Roar of the Jaguars’. Each child registered for this programme will receive a free Junior Roar Dance Academy t-shirt along with branded Jaguars pom-poms.
