JTA, one of the world’s leading independent sports consultancies, which specialises in strategic communications and international relations in the Olympic Movement and wider world of sport, celebrates a successful first year as an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).
JTA became part of an EOT on 21 March 2022 when 100% of the shareholding of parent company Jon Tibbs Associates (Holdings) Limited was sold to JTA Trustees Limited, as trustee of the JTA Employee Ownership Trust. This put the future of the business firmly in the hands of its employees. During its first year as part of an EOT, JTA reported a turnover of £3.872m.

The decision to grant employees greater ownership in the future of the business is laying the groundwork for JTA’s continued growth, expansion and entry into exciting new business sectors. Chair of the Board of JTA Trustees Limited Nick Brooker, an experienced banker, said: “This has been a very successful first year for the EOT. It has been a pleasure working with my fellow Trustee Directors and over these past 12 months we have established an excellent working practice and relationship. I am looking forward to continuing our work together in supporting the main Board and the wider JTA team.”
The decision to establish the JTA Employee Ownership Trust was taken by Jon Tibbs and JTA Director Sally Tibbs, the previous owners, to ensure the company’s sustained independence, as well as continuity of leadership for JTA’s clients.
JTA Trustees Limited has four Trustee Directors: Jon Tibbs as Founder Trustee Director, JTA Managing Director Sevi Townsend as an Employee Trustee Director, JTA Senior Consultant Nick Dawes as an Employee Trustee Director and Nick Brooker.
To guide the company through the EOT process, JTA received advice and guidance from Baxendale, a specialist consultancy (itself employee owned) that provides expert help to businesses transitioning into employee ownership, and chartered accountants McBrides.
