As football fever sweeps the UK, McDonald’s is putting on over 3,000 free football sessions for kids this summer
From Friday 28th May 2021, the first ever advert for McDonald’s Fun Football programme will be seen on TV screens. The advert kicks off the summer wave of McDonald’s Fun Football sessions, which give children aged five to 11 free access to football.
From Aberdeen to Yeovil, Swansea to Belfast, the sessions will be taking place at 460 locations across the UK, giving thousands of kids the chance to play the sport for free over the next few months under the guidance of qualified coaches from McDonald’s 4 x UK Football Association partners. The sessions give kids the chance to be active, make friends and gain confidence.
The new TV advert shows what football is all about at its core: simply having fun. Taking some well-known football conventions like pundits, scores read on the radio, tactics boards, and flipping them all on their head to brings to life both the physical and social benefits of the McDonald’s Fun Football programme, whilst showcasing the stars of the show – the kids!
The media campaign also includes additional live action moments as 10” Social media content, 20” Radio ad, PR activity utilising some famous football faces to help deliver surprise Fun Football coaching sessions, and in-restaurant assets to entertain and engage families across the UK.
The Fun Football programme is ran in partnership with the four UK FAs. McDonald’s has worked with the FAs for the last 19 years, making it the longest-standing supporter of grassroots football in the UK.
Over 3,000 Fun Football sessions will be taking place across the country this summer. Find your nearest one at mcdonalds.co.uk/football.
