Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow & Stuart Broad take part in ultra-high res photo-shoot of their eyes during Specsavers’ sponsorship launch
Batting for England requires incredible hand-to-eye co-ordination – and Specsavers have revealed a detailed never-before-seen look into the eyes of England’s Test stars ahead of the upcoming Specsavers Test Series against India.
Specsavers launched its role as Official Test Partner, which begins with the opening Test against India at Edgbaston on August 1 and runs through to the end of 2019, at The Kia Oval.
They invited England centurions Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow and Stuart Broad to have their eyes photographed at close range to reveal a unique insight into the intricacy of the human eye. Specsavers, as the ‘Test Experts’, is using the most fascinating format of cricket to promote pioneering eye care.
After seeing the stunning results of the photoshoot Bairstow spoke about the importance of maintaining eye health and the impact on his career of his ability to see the ball well.
He said: ‘Hand-to-eye co-ordination is one of the most important aspects of cricket and I’m lucky having good eyesight allows me to work hard on this aspect of my game while I’m either batting or keeping.
‘It is fantastic that Specsavers have joined as title sponsor for the upcoming Test series with India. They have been a great partner for English cricket and I hope the partnership encourages fans to maintain their own health with eye tests.’
Specsavers is proud to be teaming up with England ahead of two exciting summers of Test cricket starting with a visit from the world No.1 India and followed in 2019 with a first-ever Test against Ireland followed by the anticipated Specsavers Ashes Series.
Having been involved in English cricket since 2014, including as title sponsor of the County Championship since 2016, Specsavers will bring fans, players and the cricket community together with a series of different initiatives.
In each Test ground during the Specsavers Test Series against India fans will be offered the chance to test their fielding skills for the chance to win Test tickets in the Specsavers Fielding Test. While the Specsavers #Shouldve Test Series new mini video series will show off the weird, wacky and wonderful moments that have taken place during England Test matches.
England start the five match Specsavers Test Series against India at Edgbaston on August 1 in what will be the England men’s 1000th Test. This is followed by the Second Specsavers Test at Lord’s on August 9, the Third Specsavers Test at Trent Bridge on August 18, the Fourth Specsavers Test at The Ageas Bowl on August 30 and the Fifth Specsavers Test at The Kia Oval on September 7.
