Skateboard GB & Habito – Building a partnership with purpose

Progressive B-Corp accredited mortgage specialists Habito realised that through working in partnership with Skateboard GB (SBGB) there was an exciting opportunity to engage with a wide and diverse audience and communities through a purpose-led partnership, that met the needs of both organisations.

There were three primary cause-led partnership objectives identified, to engage with UK communities through skateboarding, developing ‘Grassroots skatespaces’ across the country to support urban regeneration and provide facilities for community use. Secondly together SBGB and Habito developed a skateboard awards scheme, which has increased participation and helped young people learn and enjoy skateboarding. In addition to this Habito were passionate about supporting the growth of competition skateboarding in Great Britain as a means to encourage participation and progression, which in 2022 culminated in some big developments for the Skateboard GB X Habito National Championships.

In 2021-22 our partnership delivered arguably the greatest results in terms of engagement, brand awareness and benefits to UK skateboarding communities since it was formed. With Habito’s investment SBGB were able for the first time to grow the National Championships from an event delivered over one weekend, to two separate events held at separate leading UK skateparks, which had many positive outcomes including extensive social engagement and media interest. Together we were also able to engage with more UK skateboarders than ever before, deliver increased benefits to UK community groups, and sustainably grow skateboarding to support long term growth, sustainability and progression.
