Kodansha’s ethos centres around ‘Inspiring Impossible Stories’ and this is the thread that runs throughout their partnership with LFC. The partnership strives to ‘Inspire Impossible Stories’ by supporting future generations through its work in the community, and through the ‘Creative Works’ programme. The “inspiRED” initiative bridges our motto with Liverpool FC’s iconic “RED”. By combining the storytelling prowess of Kodansha with the enduring spirit of Liverpool FC’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, the aim is to inspire countless individuals to embrace not only the joy of reading but also the inherent creativity that resides within each one of us.
In July 2023, LFC, Kodansha and Tate Liverpool collaborated, designing a space for all ages to enjoy. The aim of all partners was to create a carefully constructed exhibition that enabled every child and young adult to take inspiration from their surroundings, unlock their creative imagination and enjoy a variety of art forms.
The weeklong activation launched with an ‘evening with’ LFC Former Player, Phil Thompson, who alongside key stakeholders and local and international media. They were brought into the Tate gallery to learn more about the history of manga and the partnership between Kodansha and LFC. Across the 7 days, 2,100 visitors entered our gallery and further to this, local school groups and aspiring young artists were able to have exclusive access to the space to learn from like-minded individuals.
