When the world’s best female golfers arrived at Royal Porthcawl for the AIG Women’s Open this July, they were greeted by fairways that had been meticulously mowed —not only by human hands, but by a fleet of Husqvarna CEORA robotic mowers. It was an historic moment for greenkeeping and was the first time The R&A had entrusted all 18 fairways to autonomous machines, both in the build-up to, and throughout, one of its major championships.
This was a groundbreaking partnership and collaboration between course management, tournament agronomists and partnerships teams working closely together to ensure the best conditions were laid for a momentous tournament.
In a week where history was made off the course, with crowds ensuring this would be the largest ever women’s sporting event to take place in Wales, on the course, Husqvarna’s cutting-edge technology found its place in the history books.
Beyond the groundbreaking use of technology, and through this eye-catching partnership, Husqvarna was also able to grow awareness of its brand and products, educating the intrigued crowds on the availability of their “at-home” products.
Through this unique partnership, Husqvarna was able to position itself as leaders in robotic mowing from golf-course to garden and The R&A was able to deliver world-class conditions in a uniquely sustainable way, for the first time ever.
