WeSeeYou Lily Parr is a modern-day sporting interview, bringing past and present trailblazers together to inspire the future.
Set in a contemporary studio environment, visually appealing for social content and to the target audience, the film sees former Chelsea FCW and England Lionesses icon Karen Carney play the role of interviewer, someone who could have been inspired by Lily’s story had it been told. Karen is at the forefront of the women’s game in the UK and a successful football pundit.
Across from her is Lily Parr – a revolutionary and one of the greatest to have played the women’s game, even to this day.
Karen and Lily discuss several topics aimed at sparking debate and inspiring others, including:
- When she first kicked a football
- The types of games she played and the enormous crowds that attended
- How it feels to score more goals than Ronaldo (“who’s Ronaldo” she replies)
- How the ban on football made her feel and how she reacted
- How she feels about what she achieved
Most importantly, Karen asks what advice she’d give to other girls dreaming of a career in football.
Lily says: “Be fearless; lift others as you climb; football isn’t about trophies it’s about belonging; never ever let anyone tell you what you can or cannot achieve.”
To which Karen replies: “I wish someone had told me that when I was younger.”
