Does sponsorship have a future in a changing social landscape and could it be threatened with radical decline? This question will be raised and addressed by the second keynote speaker, industry veteran Patrick Nally, CEO of West Nally, at the ESA Sponsorship Summit in London on Thursday 3rd April.
Challenged with presenting The Second Model for sponsorship, Patrick Nally will discuss his vision of a new approach to succeed his original model in the 1970s which was designed to maximise a rights holder’s revenue rather than meet the objectives of a sponsor.
Patrick will argue that the industry needs to be directly involved in the debate and examination of the relationships between sports and the worlds of commerce, education, technology, governments and politics and society in general in order to enjoy continued growth.
His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Synergy’s Tim Crow, to debate these views, with the panellists giving their own thoughts on how the traditional sponsorship model is evolving. The expert panel includes:
Richard Arnold, Group Managing Director, Manchester United, will provide a rights holder’s view. Commercial Director since 2007, Richard is responsible for all sponsorship, retail, merchandising, apparel and product licensing as well as new media and mobile business.
Paul Dwan, Head of Assets and Experiential, Coca-Cola GB&I, previously worked for Diesel and Diageo in sales and marketing roles. He will share his views from working on major sports properties and how he sees brands as a `force for good’ in the communities they serve.
Sally Hancock, Consultant and former Head of Olympic and Paralympic Marketing at Lloyds Banking Group will draw on her agency and client-side experience, sharing insight from working on global properties including the FIFA World Cup and Commonwealth Games.
Session moderator Tim Crow, CEO of Synergy, has worked at the agency since 1999, whose clients include BMW, Capital One, Coca-Cola, Diageo, RBS and SSE.
