Manchester City has become the first Premier League team to open an official club experience on Roblox, launching ‘Blue Moon’ earlier today.
Manchester City continues to lead in digital innovation, as the first Premier League team to launch an official club experience on the popular immersive co-experience platform, Roblox. The announcement builds on the club’s existing activity in the newly emerging Metaverse space, as City strives to create engaging and enjoyable fan experiences in the digital and physical world.
The experience, created in collaboration with Karta, follows the club’s first item release on the Roblox marketplace in May. City launched a range of 2021/22 Champions Scarves, allowing fans to express their fandom through UGC items for the first time.
The Man City Blue Moon is the club’s official experience on Roblox. Following the story of the club’s characters, Moonchester and Moonbeam, the experience is centred around the moon concept with engaging visuals and interactive space-themed tasks. Blue Moon features activities, including a minigame, and a virtual Man City store. Fans can play and watch Moonball matches, complete quests to earn in-game rewards and interact with other City fans on Roblox. For a limited time only, Manchester City’s 2022/23 Home Shirt will be available to unlock as a free item.
Manchester City will feature in the popular Goal Kick Simulator experience – on the Roblox platform – where fans will be offered limited edition items for their avatars.
In another first for the club and the Premier League Trophy, the first ever virtual stop on Manchester City’s Trophy Tour will take place inside the Blue Moon experience on Roblox tomorrow. For 48 hours, City will provide an opportunity for people to interact in a digital world with the Premier League Trophy, take pictures with the trophy, collect unique items and meet other fans.
Nuria Tarre, Chief Marketing and Fan Experience Officer at CFG said:
“Manchester City continues to embrace the latest technologies to enhance experiences for
our fans across the globe – both physically and in the digital world, exploring new and exciting
ways to engage and entertain our fanbase.
“Another first for the club, this collaboration aims to inspire the next generation of fans and
we look forward to delivering this innovative new experience on Roblox and bring the Premier
League Trophy into the metaverse.”
Working directly with creators and developers on the Roblox platform provides an exciting
opportunity for Manchester City to engage with its global fanbase in unique and innovative
ways. With many exciting upgrades, updates and events set to arrive in the coming months.
