SOLD OUT
Event Synopsis:
ESPORTS is a topic we visited last year, and, since then, the momentum in this space has not relented. This year, the UK has seen two of its largest esports events, including a sell-out event at Wembley in September.
As esports continues to grow, it is important that we investigate how a Sponsor can take advantage of this. There are good examples of where sponsors have maximised this opportunity and there are some that have not, and it has not been pretty. For those that get it right, they are able to capture devotion from the hardest to reach demographic sponsors aim for.
This session will provide detailed insight from both industry subject experts and those that are finding their way in this space as a sponsor. They will take us through best practice, as well as the common miss-steps. They will look at the outlook for esports and what it will mean to sponsors, rights holders and agencies alike.

Entering esports as a large sponsor takes research and time, but today it offers one of the best ways to reach an under 30’s market – Matt Stevenson, Head of Sports Sponsorship at EE and ESA Board Director
Matt is Head of Sports Sponsorship at leading mobile network, EE (previously Orange). He has over 20 years of brand and comms experience, including 14 years dedicated to sponsorship and partnership activations, which has seen him work across a number of high-profile brands such as Nike, O2 and now EE.
Before joining EE, Matt played a pivotal part in the launch of NikeTown London during his four years at the iconic brand. He then moved to O2, where he spent eight years leading the brand’s music sponsorship programme, which included the successful launch of the O2 Wireless Festival (now in its 10th year).
At EE, Matt is in charge of leading the company’s sports sponsorship portfolio. Entering into his eighth year, Matt has taken the brand through a number of key brand partnerships with the England men’s team, FA Cup, Football League, NFL and most notably, the six-year multi-million pound deal with Wembley Stadium.
Having led the negotiation, contract and now the activation of the deal, Matt’s role is to ensure that EE’s technology and network plays a central part in creating a true partnership between the brand, Wembley and The FA.

EVENT FEEDBACK

“Intimate event that had a lot of the right people I wanted to see & talk to there – plenty of like-minded individuals. Very good panel and all knowledgeable in their fields.”
“First eSports event I’ve attended that seemed to give consideration to the future development of the space and didn’t have a panel saying how amazing it all is, eSports reaches millennials etc. Actually explored some of the issues!”
“Relevant and targeted to those that were new to the segment.”
“esports is an interesting sector and topic of discussion and the informal setting made for a very enjoyable session. Very easy to meet and discuss with fellow business contacts.”
“Extremely insightful on a new landscape that is largely untouched. Very engaging and knowledgeable panel!”
“It was interesting to hear different perspectives from a sponsor, an agency, a law firm and an esports entity.”
