Eike Buergel, Global Head of the Olympic & Paralympic Program at International Olympic Committee TOP Sponsor Allianz, will be joined on the panel by Stéphanie Dartevelle, VP Sponsorship Europe North Africa at Paris 2024 Premium Partner Accor.
This panel, also comprising Olympic sponsorship specialist Terrence Burns and chaired by ESA Board Director Misha Sher, will identify the most eye-catching and innovative Paris 2024 activations that have brought brand campaigns to life.
They will also discuss brand strategy trends across the various tiers of Olympic sponsor and the disruptive efforts of companies operating outside the official circle.
Eike Buergel
Global Head of Olympic & Paralympic Program, Allianz
Eike joined the Marketing division of Allianz SE in Munich in April 2010 as Global Brand Manager responsible for the partnerships with the International Paralympic Committee, the Munich 2018 bid, FC Bayern Munich, Allianz Arena and Lang Lang among other topics.
Being based in Singapore as Regional Head of Brand Management, she established the brand & marketing function across the region from 2013 to 2019.
Today Eike leads the Global Olympic and Paralympic Program Management. She established the infrastructure and business model to support Allianz´s business growth and brand performance, delivering impact in 40+ markets.
Before joining Allianz, Eike, a trained goldsmith, was working as a Senior Consultant with BBDO Consulting in Munich. Eike holds a Diploma in Sport Management from the University of Bayreuth.
Terrence Burns
Chairman & CEO, T.Burns Sports Group LLC
Terrence has a long history in Olympic marketing and international sports communications as a sponsor, as a senior marketing executive for the IOC’s agency, and as a consultant.
He is one of the most accomplished and successful global sporting event bid consultants in the world. He served as lead brand and strategic consultant for 14 Olympic bids, six successful – Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014, PyeongChang 2018, Los Angeles 2028, Salt Lake City 2034.
Terrence also served on the successful Russia 2018 and United 2016 FIFA World Cup bids, and the Qatar 2030 Asian Games bid.
Stéphanie Dartevelle
VP Sponsorship Europe North Africa, Accor
After starting her career managing events in an agency, Stéphanie progressed within Accor in the Marketing, CRM and Loyalty functions.
She also took charge of large-scale and strategic projects for the Group, such as the launch of Accor Live Limitless. Today she is head of the Sponsoring team for the Europe North Africa region, where she leads with her team all actions related to the Paris 2024 Premium Partnership.
Misha Sher (moderator)

An industry veteran who has been at the forefront of the sports industry for more than 20 years, Misha Sher is one of WPP’s most senior sport & entertainment marketing executives. At EssenceMediacom, he has built and scaled an award-winning sport & entertainment business that spans four continents and works with some of the world’s most iconic brands including Coca-Cola, Google, ebay, P&G, Mars, Allianz and Toyota, to name a few.
He also has extensive experience developing and commercialising personal brands of some of the most recognised athletes, having worked with Pelé, Brian Lara, Mesut Özil, Vinicius Jr and Alessia Russo. Misha is a published author and his opinions are frequently featured in leading media outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BBC, Fortune, CNN and Sky. He has a passion for teaching and regularly lectures MBA courses at University of Liverpool, Global Institute of Sport, Football Business Academy and Johan Cruyff Academy.
Misha is a Board Director at the European Sponsorship Association and holds an MBA in Football Industries.
