Digital activity challenge announces new partners and goal of encouraging 100,000 people to be more active in the New Year
Jantastic, the New Year fitness challenge that in 2014 saw over 21,000 people log 356,000 runs and cover in excess of one million miles, is about to launch for 2015 with a number of new partners. Macmillan Cancer Support, Strava, Virgin Money Giving, England Athletics, Triathlon England and Tribesports have all signed up to help Jantastic reach its ambitious goals for 2015.
Jantastic is a unique and exciting digital challenge that gives individuals and teams the structure and motivation to achieve their personal fitness, health and performance goals through the tough winter months. In 2015, the goal for Jantastic is to see 100,000 people signing up to kick-start their New Year fitness and health programme, covering a total of 5 million miles of activity. For the first time, Jantastic participants will be able to set fitness targets in running, cycling and swimming (or a combination of the three) and will also have the option of raising money for charity as they commit to their fitness challenges.
Several new partners have come on board to help make Jantastic 2015 an even bigger and better experience for those taking part and to help increase the numbers getting involved. Confirmed partners to date include, Macmillan Cancer Support, Strava, Virgin Money Giving, England Athletics, Triathlon England and Tribesports.
Martin Yelling, co-founder of Jantastic, said, “Our goal is to be the ‘go to’ New Year’s fitness campaign, with participants challenging themselves by making and meeting personal health, fitness and performance targets that can bring about life-changing results. Jantastic is free to participate in, can be done in your own time and own your own terms, making it suitable for everyone. I’m delighted to be working with some great new partners for 2015, all of whom share our vision for Jantastic”.
Catherine Alabaster, project manager at Macmillan Cancer Support said, “We are delighted to be the official charity partner for Jantastic 2015 and look forward to welcoming Team Macmillan participants as they take part in this unique challenge. We hope the partnership will raise £100,000 and every penny raised is vital to help us provide essential medical, practical and emotional support for patients and their families.”
Simon Klima, Strava UK Country Manager, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Jantastic 2015. We have a shared goal of motivating and entertaining athletes, so we’re a great fit. By bringing the Strava functionality to Jantastic, participants will benefit from being able to record their activity using GPS. We are looking forwarding to being involved in the biggest and best Jantastic yet.”
Jo Barnett, the Executive Director of Virgin Money Giving said: “Charities are always looking for new ways to engage with their existing supporters, as well as getting new fundraisers on board. Jantastic is the perfect opportunity for charities to involve people in fundraising for causes they care about, as well as helping them to get fitter, healthier and achieve their personal goals. And as Virgin Money Giving is a not-for-profit fundraising website, our partnership with Jantastic means more of the money raised will reach good causes.”
Anna Gray, Participation Programme Manager at England Athletics, said, “England Athletics are delighted to be supporting Jantastic again in 2015. This is a great challenge which inspires people of all ages, abilities and aspirations to start running or take their running a step further. It is wonderful to see people set and then attain their own personal goals! We hope to see many people getting involved again or for the first time this year’”
Steve Reid, CEO of Tribesports said, “We’re massive fans of Jantastic – helping people to get active and achieve their sporting goals is a mission shared by Tribesports. We’re delighted to be sportswear partner, getting participants top quality kit that helps them perform at their best. We wish all challenge takers the best of luck hitting their targets!”
