collaboration between the Club and EA SPORTS for various fan engagement
activations and content.
Manchester City has today announced the renewal of its long-term partnership with leading gaming publisher, EA SPORTS, now entering its fifth term.
Since the partnership began in 2011, Manchester City and EA SPORTS have worked closely together to create authentic digital experiences and engaging content for fans worldwide through the immersive world of EA SPORTS FC.
The inclusion of players across both the Men’s and Women’s squads over the years in EA SPORTS FC content and special accolades such as Team of the Season and the selection of Erling Haaland as cover star for FC 24 has bolstered the star power of Manchester City in the FC space. The further decision to make the Joie Stadium one of the first Women’s stadiums available for players to use has also increased the visibility of our brand in the game.
The Club’s decision to implement a professional Manchester City EA SPORTS FC Pro team has enabled the partnership to reach new levels and collaborate in the esports space through bespoke content for gaming fans on our dedicated Man City Esports channels. EA SPORTS has also become a successful tool for new player announcements on these channels, seen most recently with Ilkay Gundogan predicting his FC 25 rating as part of his return campaign.
To celebrate the renewal, a special compilation video has been created which takes fans on a nostalgic journey through the partnership’s key activation highlights such as rating reveals with superstars like Kevin De Bruyne and iconic City moments for which EA SPORTS has been present, including eight Premier League titles and a historic Treble winning season.
After thirteen years of successful collaborations, fans can continue to enjoy exclusive content across Manchester City and Electronic Arts (EA) platforms with players, club legends, competitions and more.
Peter Laundy, SVP of Partnerships at City Football Group, commented: “We are extremely pleased to extend our partnership with EA SPORTS who have enabled us to expand our presence in the world of EA SPORTS FC and connect with a young demographic of new and existing fans, some of whom have chosen to follow Manchester City after engaging with us on the game.
“EA SPORTS have created a true legacy with FC and we are proud to have worked with them across multiple successful campaigns over the years that have authentically engaged our global audience in an off the pitch space.
“Together we have built a strong collaborative relationship and we are excited to see what the future holds for our partnership.”
Commenting on the renewal, James Taylor, Director of FC Partnerships said: “A 13-year partnership is an incredible milestone, and we are thrilled to extend this partnership further with Manchester City.
“Through the years we’ve been able to collaborate on some iconic footballing moments and having both men’s and women’s team feature in FC we’re able to bring fans worldwide closer to the players and club they love.”
