• Official Sports Nutrition Partner of Giro d’Italia for 2014 and 2015 events
• Multipower Sportsfood increases involvement in cycling to include Milano-SanRemo and Giro di Lombardia road race classics, Strade Bianche, Tirreno-Adriatico and Roma Maxima
Europe’s number one sports nutrition company, Atlantic Multipower has announced the extension of its exclusive partnership with the iconic Giro d’Italia following the company’s successful sponsorship last year. Multipower Sportsfood will remain the Official Sports Nutrition Partner to the 2014 and 2015 editions of the Grand Tour event.
In addition, Multipower Sportsfood has also extended its presence in the world of cycling to become the Official Sports Nutrition supplier of the Milano–SanRemo (23 March) and Giro di Lombardia (5 October) road race classics, the Strade Bianche (2 March), Roma Maxima (9 March) and Tirreno-Adriatico (12-18 March).
Widely considered to be the world’s most difficult bike race, the Giro d’Italia lived up its billing during last year’s edition when riders not only faced the fiercest terrain Italy had to offer but were also met by unseasonal weather conditions including snow storms and flash floods.
Belfast, Northern Ireland has the honour of hosting the first two legs of the Giro d’Italia, including a 21.7km time trial for the first stage on 9th May, the eleventh time in the Giro’s celebrated 97-year history that the race has featured on foreign soil. The third stage takes the riders on a 187km route from Armagh to Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland.
Alexander Schmelz, Director of Marketing and Innovation at Multipower Sportsfood, says: “We are delighted to continue our partnership of the prestigious Giro d’Italia for another two years following the huge success of our involvement in 2013.
“The Giro and the additional races throughout the year provide the ideal platform for Multipower to showcase its sports nutrition credentials to the world of cycling. The Multipower range of endurance products is a perfect fit for cyclists of all abilities, from the amateur cyclist right the way through to the professionals who used our products during the demanding conditions of last year’s Giro with great feedback. This information is being soaked up by our nutrition specialists to constantly improve the high level of our products and to strive for innovations from which all endurance athletes can benefit. ”
