Sports marketing agency, SportQuake.com, have recently undertaken some interesting research in order to discover how the opening weekend of the 2015 Premier League was received across the various social networks.
The company tracked the opening games for an overview of which matches and which players generated the most buzz – and where!
The research, which was put together by SportQuake.com Founder and CEO Matt House, used social media tracking software to monitor mentions of the action. The full results can be found within the ESA resource library, but some highlights include:
- three quarters of the buzz about the opening round of fixtures originated from outside the UK
- Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Swansea was the most talked about match
- Petr Cech’s Arsenal bow scored him the most negative mentions for a debutant
There was also some interesting data obtained on West Ham’s teenage sensation, Reece Oxford, which can be discovered in the report.
