Global technology company Ricoh today launches a new series in its successful The Business of Rugby campaign, delivered in partnership with Premiership Rugby. This year The Business of Rugby will focus on what it really takes for Premiership Rugby clubs to generate lasting success, on and off the pitch, with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the 12 Clubs. The concept was created and executed in conjunction with ESA member PHAR Partnerships who are Ricoh’s sponsorship activation agency in the UK & Ireland.
A new interactive report and video series made up of four chapters focusing on the four factors that Ricoh believe are essential to developing a winning strategy: people, process, technology and place, will be released throughout the 2018/19 Gallagher Premiership Rugby season. The aim is for each chapter to provide fascinating insights and behind-the-scenes access to the Premiership Rugby clubs.
The first chapter focusing on ‘People’ launches today at www.rugby.ricoh.co.uk. Featuring interviews with a number of Directors of Rugby, including Bristol Bears’ Pat Lam and Exeter Chiefs’ Rob Baxter, it explores the importance of creating a strong culture and, how this can generate on-going club success. This chapter also examines how the most decorated Premiership Rugby clubs have achieved success over the years through the longevity of their leaders and their continued investment in young talent through academies.

Dominic Hayes, Commercial Director at Premiership Rugby, said: ‘The Premiership has had its most exciting start to date with 226 tries, fantastic TV and in stadia audiences and more points scored than ever before. But this is no small achievement, it is down to the hard work of those on and off the pitch at the 12 clubs that make up the Gallagher Premiership. As the League become even more competitive and engaging to audiences it is important for clubs to continue to develop successful business strategies and to reap the rewards of a growing fanbase. This report from Ricoh carefully explores the balance and role people, technology, process and place have in delivering that success.’
Chas Moloney, Marketing Director for Ricoh UK & Ireland, commented: ‘We are very excited to mark the fifth year of Ricoh’s Premiership Rugby partnership with the launch of ‘The Business of Rugby’ campaign. At Ricoh, we believe that in order for organisations to generate lasting success, it is absolutely essential that the leaders understand their own people and the way in which they work. I hope that the first chapter in The Business of Rugby series, launched today, gives fans a real insight into how development of the young talent and the longevity of leadership, combined with strong culture, breed success for the Premiership Rugby clubs.’
