Launched on Saturday 26 May during Aberystwyth Cycle Festival, Wales360 is Wales’ newest and most ambitious mountain bike event and promises to be a celebration of some of the best natural riding the UK has to offer.
Wales360 is supported by the Welsh Government and will be marketed and televised with the objective of promoting MTB related tourism and other forms of activity tourism within Wales. Profits from the event will be re-invested in Welsh cycling.
Organised by SweetSpot Group (the events company behind the OVO Energy Tour of Britain and Women’s Tour) and taking place for the first time on 22 to 29 July 2019, Wales360 is a fully supported six-day cross country mountain bike ride. Up to 250 teams of 2 riders will trace a challenging 550 kilometre route around Mid and North Wales, covering between 85 – 110 kilometres and climbing around 2,000 metres per day. Each night riders will enjoy the social surroundings of the Wales360 Camp, reliving the days adventures with like-minded riders whilst enjoying some fine Welsh hospitality.
SweetSpot have designed the Wales360 to appeal to experienced mountain bikers with an interest in endurance events but also to those who perhaps have a moderate amount of experience on a mountain bike but enjoy pushing themselves to their physical limits. The aim is to grow the Wales360 from 500 to around 1,000 riders over 5 years and to incorporate a UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) stage race as soon as circumstances allow, mirroring the format of events like the Absa Cape Epic.
