On Friday 7th December 2018, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) played host to the seventh annual ESA Diploma Graduation ceremony, where we saw many of the 50 graduates presented with their diploma certificates by Jennie Price.
Jennie Price, ex CEO of Sport England for 11 years, was appointed CBE for services to sport in 2017. Her CEO and non-executive roles span 20 years. Jennie is an expert in gender diversity, behaviour change and governance, leading the implementation of the world-leading governance code for sport, including requirements for greater Board diversity and transparency.
A keynote speaker at major national and international conferences on sport and media, mentor/coach to numerous CEOs and Directors, and awarded Honorary Doctorates by the University of Brighton and Birmingham City University, Jennie trained as a lawyer, initially working in private practice and in-house in the construction industry.
Amongst the group of graduates, four achieved Distinction: Elysa Hubbard, Fay Jenkins, Seb Lear and Kevin Smit. Special mention is made of Elysa Hubbard, who, in addition to being this year’s Top Student, also achieved jointly with Conor Mangan, the accolade of submitting this year’s Top Set Brief.
The prestigious ceremony was the finale to seven months of endeavour by the undergraduates, having juggled busy careers with the demands of the course.
Commenting on the graduates and the quality of their work, ESA Chairman, Andy Westlake said:
“The ESA Diploma, as one of our flagship education programmes, consistently ensures the bright future of our excellent industry by setting the highest bar for training, innovation and best practice.
Thank you to our graduates for being part of the Class of 2018! We’re delighted to have you represent the very best of the European Sponsorship Association and we’re proud to have you join our list of over 350 ESA Diploma graduate alumni.”
Course Director, Peter Raymond added:
“It felt like a privilege to have spent so much time with this year’s charismatic class. Their enthusiasm and commitment is truly inspiring and their results speak for themselves. I’m also greatly reassured by their feedback, as it seems as if they enjoyed it almost as much as I did.”
The Graduation ceremony was followed by a glittery champagne reception and afternoon tea for all graduates and their guests.
As a final note, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our course sponsors: Sport England, CSM Live, Activative, Sports Sponsorship Insider and IMR.
