The European Sponsorship Association has extended its commitment to best-practice sponsorship for members with the launch of the 2020 Sponsorship Sales Certificate.
Now entering its fourth year, the specialist course has quickly grown to become an essential qualification for sponsorship salespeople and business development staff working in the field of sports, charity, cultural and entertainment sponsorship.
In 2020, ESA will run four intakes of the Certificate – two face-to-face (‘live’) courses starting in January and September, and two online courses running in April and November.
Held over four sessions and eight seminars, the part-time course addresses key elements of the sponsorship sales process, including proposal development, pricing and negotiation, prospecting and sponsorship contracts. The course culminates in a formal assessment of verbal and written sponsorship sales skills.
The ESA Sponsorship Sales Certificate also includes a thorough overview of new and emerging industry trends and key professional development training, such as ‘how to’ presenting techniques.
The Certificate is a key part of ESA’s commitment to raising the standards of the sponsorship industry through education and professional development. It is one of four industry-specific qualifications offered by ESA, along with the ESA Diploma, the ESA Leaders Programme and the ESA Arts Sponsorship Certificate.
ESA Chairman Andy Westlake said:
“As the sponsorship industry continues to evolve, so does ESA’s commitment to best-practice education. Alongside ESA’s other qualifications, the Sponsorship Sales Certificate is a crucial part of our service to members and the wider sponsorship community,” he said.
The course is run in partnership with Think!Sponsorship, the leading sponsorship intelligence agency. Course Director and Think!Sponsorship Founder Catherine Hawkins said the 2020 Certificate is shaping up to be the best course yet.
“We’re really excited to be offering a digital version of the course in 2020 to enable best-practice sponsorship techniques to be accessible to all sponsorship sales practitioners. As the industry continues to innovate it’s essential that sales techniques and capabilities also develop. I’m thrilled to be collaborating with ESA on this important qualification that will become a benchmark for sponsorship sales capability across Europe,” she said.
